FINALLY! On the Move Again!

The last few days at Boulder Beach…..

Drove to Temple Bar and Overton to put some non-towing miles on the new differential….these handsome guys/gals crossed in front of us and then stopped to see what we were.

And then we were off. First stop was Phoenix for a short but very sweet visit with family. Marley got to meet his cousin Riley and had a strenuous play session with her. Next stop Karchener Caverns where we intended doing a cavern tour but the tours were all full. But it was a beautiful park.

From the Karchener Caverns we took the less travelled route which we much prefer to the I10. A lot of our drive followed “The Wall” of great controversy these days…! At one point I drew Mike’s attention to a black line stretching across the horizon and asked him what he thought it was……”That’s THE WALL”, he said.

That night we stayed at Pancho Villa State Park in New Mexico. Had our first campfire watching the sun set.

Next morning made our way through El Paso…WHEW! It was busy even on a Sunday morning but soon the traffic thinned out. Once again, we went off the beaten path. Ended up spending the night in a small town called Marfa. Next night we were treated to another spectacular sunset in Carrizo Springs….

Marley helped with the navigation…on the final leg to Freeport.

Serious business this navigation!

Found our RV park and settled in, slapping at mosquitos but not giving it too much thought. Pretty soon we were going wild with the damn things! We couldn’t go in or out without hoards of them coming in with us. But still…tried to make the best of it. I just had to see the ocean and take Marley for a walk. We were rewarded by a spectacular sunset.

Then dinner at Pier 30…..boiled shrimp and boudin balls and fries….

The Mozzies drove us crazy. We couldn’t move. So….we went somewhere else. Now we are settled in at The Breeze and are seaside. We have access to the beach which is just a few steps…..the wind is blowing, the waves are crashing and we love it. More to come as we explore this part of the Gulf Coast.

  1. Hey folks, good to see you on the road again. I just got back from another Camino jaunt. How long will you be on the gulf coast? We are heading that way in February. Hope to see you on the road somewhere.

  2. Great to hear from you!! Which Camino did you do? We’ll be here until mid January and then plan to continue on east to explore Alabama coast and Florida’s forgotten coast. How about you? Would be great to see you!!

  3. Sounds like you two have an amazing trip planned! And we loved the pics….especially where Marley is the navigator.
