We Arrive at Grand St. Bernard Pass….

So excited to be here!

Martigny to Sembrancher and another train to Orsieres. Then, a bit of a wait in Orsieres for the bus.

What…..? Whole bunch of middle-schoolers boarded the bus….noisy of course, but soon they had disembarked and we had the bus mostly to ourselves. A most spectacular drive….and we thought our switchbacks up Sinks Canyon in Lander Wyoming were spectacular!

In no time flat we were at the top

More intrepid bathers…

A visit to the St. Bernard Museum…

When we arrived, 2 of the dogs were out for exercise. The goats were foraging.

Next, to the hospice which dates back to 1050. It was a safe haven for all kinds of Travellers over years, including Napoleon Bonaparte who marched 40,000 soldiers over this pass.

Inside…

Beautiful sculptures…

After all that foraging, some much needed rest…

And then it was time for dinner…

Tomorrow we start….we think it may snow tonight.
