Yes! As predicted, it snowed overnight. Not only was it cold and snowing, there was also a very strong wind. What to do? Wait for it to ease and hopefully melt a bit or take a ride a few kilometers down the road to where there was no snow? Mike went to check the trail, slipped and almost fell. It was quite icy and difficult to see under the snow. The terrain was treacherous. Decision made! We accepted a ride to just before St. Rhemy. From snow to no-snow in just a few kilometers.

It was soooo cold.…I bought the last pair of gloves at the hotel shop at the top before taking the ride down…so glad I did. I wore them for maybe an hour before it warmed up enough.

The next few pics I took from the info board as we walked into St. Rhemy. For those of you history buffs out there.

Walking through our first Italian village – St. Rhemy.

Today, our first day, we walked close to 8 km. From just above St. Rhemy to Etroubles.
