Mortara to Garlasco, overcast for the first half and then steady rain for the second half, supposed to be 21km but turned into 16km.
The first pic of the morning..

Beautiful walking…country roads, more cornfields, rice paddies, egrets and Ibis….

Stopped for a rest in Remondo, in a church-so quiet and peaceful..

As we walked through field after field of rice, we were fascinated to see the process after the harvest. One tractor pulling another which was spreading manure followed by a cultivator, I’m guessing, which turned over the rice stems left over after the harvest.

As we neared Tremollo and the 15km mark, the rain started to come down more heavily, and we donned our rain ponchos.

Thankfully there was a bar where we had hot tea and some lunch, hoping the rain would stop but no such luck. We decided to take the train the last few kilometers because of muddy conditions but…no such luck. No train tickets to be bought, the bus passed us by….we were at another bar trying to get information. Several young men were having a smoke outside. The young woman behind the bar had sympathy for our plight and cajoled them into driving us into Garlasco. They drove us right to the front door of our hotel and refused to accept any “beer” money.
