Over Half Way to Rome!!

Sarzana to Massa, supposed to be 28 km but that’s way too much for us. We walked 11km to Luni, stopped for lunch, and then took the train the rest of the way into Massa. We were wet, tired, and happy. We decided to walk as far as we could in the morning because the heavier rain was forecasted to start later in the day. A few views along our route today….ponchos on, ponchos off…

Stopped at a bar for coffee and to dry out a bit and met up with a couple from Utrecht, Holland, whom we had met in the morning over breakfast at our B&B. We chatted for a while until they left.

Next, the older proprietor at the cafe asked where we were from. No sooner did Mike tell him Wyoming, than he had Mike in an Indian headdress, taking pics with him in front of his “Tombstone Saloon”, talking about Wyatt Earp, Geronimo, Sitting Bull….. It was so much fun. Turns out he was a race car driver. He had pics of himself, took Mike to see his race car, trophies and so on. Another adventure on the Camino. They just never seem to end!

We walked to the Luna train station, had some lunch while we waited for the train, and 10 minutes later we were in Massa. Another 2km walk to our B&B, and we were home for the evening.

After our usual routine of shower, laundry, rest, we headed out for an earlier-than-usual dinner.

Our hostess warned us of an extreme weather warning for tomorrow….torrential rains so I guess it’s another day of travelling in the taxi with our luggage.
