RAIN!!!

Day 38: Buonconvento to San Quirico d’Orcia, 0 km, supposed to be 21km but we are taking the bus because of the heavy rains last night. The day turned out sunny and warm.

Prue and Heather left early to go on the train to Rome but the Siena station flooded and was closed so they opted to take buses. They sent this picture of a small stream we had crossed yesterday and said a lot of the fields around Buonconvento are flooded. So, I think we made the best decision!! There were warnings in our trip notes that this next section could be bad in the case of rain.

This is today, between Buonconvento and San Quirico d’Orcia. When we crossed it yesterday, it was a small stream.

We got to San Quirico d’Orcia around 2:30 and checked into our B&B. Very sweet. It looked like an interesting town so we went exploring since the day turned out to be sunny and warm.

Home for a snooze and then back to the gardens for some more in depth exploration…

You could walk around the base of the statue. Inside are pics of the countryside.
