Dec. 12: Arrival in Cape Town

Beautiful Cape Town! We have, once again, fallen in love!IMG_0011

The flight was longer than we had anticipated but no complaints. We arrived late in the morning and waited in the customs line for about an hour after which we were met by Paul, the representative and driver of ‘The Magic Bus Company’. Thinking ‘EBOLA’, and as my hands touched numerous handrails at the airport, I promised myself that I would remember to wash my hands. Of course, I forgot, even with hand sanitizer in my bag!!

As we drove from the airport to our hotel in Cape Town, Paul pointed out all the sights – the best was tour first glimpse of Table Mountain!! We stayed at ‘The Breakwater Lodge’ which started out, in 1859, as a prison for convicts working on the construction of the breakwater in Table Bay. Of course, our room was all redecorated and lovely, albeit a bit tiny. The best thing about the hotel was the view of Table Mountain and the hotel’s proximity to the upscale, popular, shopping area called the V & A Harbor. Lots of shopping and eateries.
