Photogallery Day 2: Exploring Konstanz by tilster Posted on 3 October, 201513 August, 2019 Gallery Mike modeling his new rain poncho! We came across this small pool of sculptures. We stopped to shop and bought so much Mike had to resize his pack. Early morning walk towards the cathedral. We lit the candles also to ask for a blessing on our pilgrimage. We stopped to light candles in gratitude for being able to this pilgrimage. A mini version of the incense burner that we will see in Santiago. This small child was fascinated with the letters set into the concrete floor of the Cathedral. The organ in the Konstanz Kathedral. We heard a most inspiring organ recital while we were there. I can’t remember the name now but this stairway takes you down to the old, old part of the church dating back to before the 13th century. This is the rotunda. Look towards the top. You will see the statue of St. James and inside is a replica of the holy sepulchre. This is a statue of St.James, the apostle whose remains are in the cathedral in Santiago, carrying the 7 staffs and bag of shells. So much history! This is called the Sylvester chapel and it dates way back. The frescoes on the walls are ancient. This wooden heart was intricately carved and was on an old stone table in the Sylvester Chapel. The signpost on the square showing the kilometers to Santiago. Mike by the signpost. Just outside the cathedral, beside the signpost, our starting point.
