The first leg of our trip home – Laramie, Wyoming to Rifle, Colorado
After our final hugs and kisses with the Princess and her family, and preparing the ‘little house on wheels’ for departure, we set off on the first leg of our journey back to Indio, California. We traveled via Woods Landing & Jelm, into Colorado before passing through Walden, Steamboat Springs, Craig, Meeker – finally arriving in Rifle mid – afternoon. The entire trip was a non-stop feast for the eyes….the leaves were changing, treating us to a symphony of yellows, bright and burnt oranges, scarlet and burgundy reds all set against a background of blue sky and all of the hues of green imaginable. Spectacular. Autumn in the Colorado Rockies. John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High” kept playing in my head, over and over, for the whole trip. Here are just a few of the scenes from today:
And here is our camp spot tonight in Rifle and the spectacular view from my window as I write.
